Maruti Suzuki's New Five-Star Safety Marvel: A Breakthrough in Indian Auto Industry
Maruti Suzuki, often synonymous with budget-friendly cars in India, has traditionally faced criticism over safety ratings. However, the game seems to be changing with their latest model, which boasts an impressive five-star Global NCAP rating, a first for the brand. In a major shift, Maruti Suzuki’s newest model includes enhanced safety features that stand out.
Safety Features Packed for Maximum Protection
This new Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2024 arrives with six standard airbags configurations, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), and pedestrian protection technology. These enhancements signal Maruti’s commitment to adapting to modern safety needs. The car features three-point seatbelts across all seating positions, catering to passenger safety comprehensively.
The frontal crash test results show marginal protection for the driver’s chest, but the pole test revealed full head protection, while the side-impact test provided complete protection for adult occupants.
Child Safety Takes a Front Seat
The car’s design has proven successful in terms of child safety. An 18-month-old child dummy received full protection, while the three-year-old dummy also showed strong protection for the head and chest areas. However, neck protection showed slight room for improvement, suggesting that a rear-world-facing Child Restraint System (CRS) might enhance safety.
Full protection was ensured in a side-impact test for children, positioning Maruti Suzuki’s new model as a leader in child occupant safety. This is a significant step forward in an industry where child safety can sometimes be overlooked.
Comparison to the Previous Dzire Model
Interestingly, Global NCAP also put Maruti’s older Dzire model to the test, which unfortunately managed only a two-star rating. This contrast in safety ratings highlights just how far Maruti Suzuki has come in prioritizing safety in their vehicle lineup.
As safety becomes increasingly important for Indian car buyers, Maruti Suzuki’s latest five-star rated model could well reshape perceptions about the brand’s commitment to security on the road.
